Comics
I have always liked comics, or what we used to call “tebeos”. The stories of Mortadelo and Filemon (finally, though unfortunately, translated into Catalan), Asterix the Gaul, The Adventures of Tintin, Lucky Luke, Super Lopez and many others.
When I was a child, there was also the magazine Cavall Fort, to which I was subscribed for many years. There I discovered other characters such as The Smurfs, Gil Pupila, Spirou and Fantasio,…
I cannot leave out the hours I spent reading at my grandmother’s house the adventures of Superman, Green Lantern, Prince Valiant, etc.
After childhood and adolescence, and as time went by, other magazines and comics came into my hands: Marvel heroes such as Marvel like Spiderman, X-Men… I have enjoyed graphic novels such as The Mercenary, Dragon Ball, Spirit.
Well, it never ends!
I will show you some of the collections I have built over the years:
Asterix
A small Gaulish village stubbornly and indomitably resists the Roman Empire thanks to a magic potion that gives them extraordinary strength. Asterix and his inseparable friend Obelix live adventures throughout the ancient world, facing Romans, foreign customs and absurd situations. With intelligent humor and full of wordplay, the series combines action and satire, turning each album into an entertaining and critical look at history, society and the human condition.
Created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, it is one of the great works of Franco-Belgian comics and a brilliant example of harmony between script and drawing.
Dragon Ball
The story follows Goku from childhood until he becomes one of the most powerful warriors in the universe. Along the way, he meets allies and rivals who help him push past constant limits, in an escalating journey of strength, skill and determination. The search for the Dragon Balls mixes with spectacular battles, moments of humor and the continuous evolution of the characters. It is an epic of martial arts and fantasy that has shaped generations, where self-improvement and fighting spirit are the driving force behind everything.
Akira Toriyama was its complete author and gave shape to one of the most influential series in modern manga, both in its drawing and in its storytelling.
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man collects the early adventures of Peter Parker, a brilliant young man who gains extraordinary powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Balancing responsibility, loss, and iconic villains, the series builds a deeply human hero and stands as a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe.
Its primary creators are Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, who brought the character to life and laid the foundation for his enduring legacy.
Scorpion
In a baroque Europe full of shadows and conspiracies, The Scorpion moves skillfully among swords, secrets and religious intrigue. The son of a mystery that marks his destiny, the protagonist combines charisma, irony and combat ability to survive in a world ruled by power and manipulation. The series stands out for its agile, cinematic storytelling, with constant twists and a tense atmosphere in which faith, identity and truth blend into a captivating adventure.
The series was created by Stephen Desberg for the script and Enrico Marini for the artwork, a combination that gives it narrative strength and great visual elegance.
The Mercenary
In a fantasy world of unsettling beauty, full of dragons, impossible castles and landscapes that look painted, the Mercenary travels paths full of mystery and danger. His adventures, often enigmatic, combine action and reflection in a universe where imagery has extraordinary weight. The Smurfs
The Smurfs stories take us to a charming village hidden deep in the forest, where small blue creatures live adventures full of humor, ingenuity, and teamwork. Each character has a unique personality, and together they face everyday challenges and Gargamel’s schemes with imagination and a strong collective spirit.
This universe was created by Peyo, who brought these endearing characters to life and turned them into a classic of European comics.
The Adventures of Tintin
Tintin, a young reporter with a curious gaze and an intrepid spirit, travels the world living adventures that take him from distant deserts all the way to the Moon. Accompanied by unforgettable characters such as Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus, he faces mysteries, conspiracies and dangers with intelligence and determination. The clarity of the storytelling and the agile pace make each story accessible and exciting, turning the series into a landmark of European comics and a gateway to adventure for readers of all ages.
Hergé, the pseudonym of Georges Remi, created a distinctive universe and a way of telling stories that has become fundamental in the history of European comics.
Lucky Luke
The gunslinger faster than his shadow rides across a Wild West reimagined with humor and irony. Lucky Luke meets bandits, tricksters and eccentric characters, especially the unforgettable Dalton brothers, in stories that play with western tropes. With a carefree style and situations full of gags, the series offers a constant parody of the myth of the American West, combining light action with humor that never loses its freshness.
Created by Morris and enriched for many years by the scripts of René Goscinny, it is one of the great classic series of humorous adventure.
Mafalda
Mafalda is an apparently ordinary girl, but with an extraordinary ability to question the world around her. Through conversations with her friends and everyday reflections, she addresses themes such as politics, war, society and the future of humanity with surprising lucidity. Her humor, tender but sharp, turns each strip into a small universal reflection. It is a work that transcends time, capable of making you smile and think at once.
Quino, with an apparently simple graphic style, created a work full of intelligence and sensitivity that remains current and essential.
Preacher
Preacher follows Jesse Custer, a preacher possessed by a supernatural entity that grants him the power of the Word. Joined by Tulip and an Irish vampire, he embarks on a brutal and irreverent journey to find God. Blending violence, dark humor, and existential themes, the series stands as a bold and unforgettable work.
The series was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, who crafted a distinctive narrative within the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics.
Rapaces
Rapaces is a dark fantasy action comic series following a mysterious antihero in a decaying world filled with violence and secrets. Amid conspiracies, nocturnal creatures, and inner struggles, the protagonist balances his savage nature with a fragile sense of justice.
An intense work created by Enrico Marini and Jean Dufaux, blending dark storytelling with a powerful visual style.
Super Lopez
Super Lopez is the most everyday and ironic version of the classic superhero. With a very relatable style, it reflects reality with a surreal touch that makes it unique.
